Type 2 Wallbox vs Public Charging — Which Is Better for Daily EV Use?
When I bought my first EV, I debated whether to rely on public charging or install a Type 2 Wallbox at home. At first, public stations seemed convenient-just stop at a shopping mall or near the office. But after months of real-world use, I realized the trade-offs.

Public Charging: The Reality
Public chargers are helpful for long-distance trips, but as a daily charging solution, they can be unpredictable. Sometimes stations are full, sometimes they're broken, and sometimes they're located far from home. More than once, I found myself waiting late at night, tired after work, just to get 20 minutes of charge.
Home Charging: A Game Changer
With a Type 2 Wallbox at home, your EV becomes like your smartphone. You plug it in at night, and in the morning, it's ready to go. No waiting, no planning-just seamless convenience.
Why 7kW Is Enough
Some drivers assume they need super high-power charging at home. But here's the truth: with a 7kW wallbox, you can add around 40–50 km of range per hour. Overnight, that's 300+ km-more than enough for daily driving.

Cost and Efficiency
Public charging can also be expensive. In some cities, rates at public stations are nearly double the price of home electricity. By charging with a Type 2 Wallbox, especially during off-peak hours, you can save hundreds of euros every year.
Safety and Reliability
Another reason I trust my wallbox is safety. Built with flame-retardant ABS, tested for thousands of plug-in cycles, and compliant with European IEC standards, it's not only durable but also trustworthy.
When Public Charging Still Wins
Of course, public chargers are essential for long road trips. I still rely on fast DC stations when driving across countries. But for everyday use, nothing beats the reliability and savings of a home-installed Type 2 Wallbox.
